Home Exercise Machines & Accessories

A serious review of any health program that involves exercise, weight lifting and strength training must include a comparison of home fitness gyms and related equipment.  The first step was to quickly rate the quality of today’s gym machines.  One discovery led us to conclude that many products suitable for residential homes are almost on the same level as commercial equipment.  We said almost.  Of course price is a major factor, but careful shoppers can find sale prices and super deals on many popular home gyms.

Men and women have discovered that their traditional gym is not the only place to go to these days.  A new dance program called Zumba has almost revolutionized fitness classes.  It’s a great way to participate in aerobic exercise while dancing and moving to Latin music.  No equipment is needed, but you do need the proper zumba shoes and exercise clothes to maximize your workout from these dance classes.

We are not going to compare free weights with equipment such as single or multi stack gyms, rack systems or lat machines.  There’s plenty of online information that covers weight lifting using dumbbells, or accessories like ankle or leg weights and weighted vests.  But we will go into detail about other training methods using elliptical machines, or different styles of treadmills such as folding and non folding from manufacturers like Body Solid, Inertia, Endurance and Kettler.

Exercise bikes are a great way to include some cardio work and also trim body fat.  Another method that trainers like to use to increase cardio levels include boxing and kickboxing.  Leg machines will also be covered in addition to some excellent ways to train the abdominals.

Once your workout program is setup, you’ll see your strength level improve significantly.

We advocate conventional strength training and essential core training.  Some people require exercises targeted to their specific sport, while others need rehabilitation exercise.

But, there’s another important key to improving your health.

Most people don’t realize the importance of combining proper nutrition with a serious workout routine.  Diet plans alone just don’t seem to work.  Why not?

Let me give you some personal insights.

Many years ago when my training began, I would do a few pushups, or maybe try sit-ups occasionally, but my body shape never improved until we set up an area in our house specifically for fitness gyms.  We didn’t need a large athletic facility.  Even if you live in a small condo, a spare bedroom works well for items like a treadmill to be used in your running program.  You’d be amazed how much machinery you can pack in one room.

Bodybuilding equipment took my health and diet quest to the next level.  Suddenly, my weight began to drop.  Friends started to give me compliments.  My energy increased.  Now, working out on fitness equipment machines became something to eagerly anticipate!

An exercise program from the house was much easier to maintain when compared to driving over to a crowded health club.  Instead of costly club fees, you can save money by using your own equipment anytime you choose.

But deciding to create a home exercise center was only the first step.  What type of machines are best?  Treadmills? Ellipticals?  Commercial quality or cheap stuff?  Who do you order from and will they be reliable?

The brands were all familiar and after doing considerable research and reading many reviews, the bottom line seems to be that you get what you pay for.

You should consider sturdy, well built devices that will withstand even your most intense workout regimen.  What you want is years of trouble-free exercise.  I’d rather concentrate on keeping my abs fit instead of ordering parts for the gym equipment.

Eventually, we selected home gym equipment that was small and compact, but still offered an entire weight room full of exercises.  The best of both worlds for us.

If you’re looking for a total workout routine, you’ll find many quality trainers like the one we ordered.  For example, our’s  includes a straight-arm pec fly exercise which gives your pec muscles an awesome workout.  This same household-model gym also provides total back isolation, or lets you do killer ab crunches, or calf presses or a conventional leg press.  Incline press, lat pulldown, bench press, shoulder press and triceps push down are just some of the exercises you can do on this.

You can achieve fantastic, lifetime results with home fitness gyms that your entire family can use.  Just remember to set realistic goals, monitor your nutrition and maintain a safe, lifelong commitment to remaining active, healthy and fit.  Home exercise equipment is a universal tool to give you a total body workout in the comfort of your own surroundings.

Update:  We just wanted to let you know that we’ll soon have a new review of a highly rated single stack home gym, the Hoist V5.  There are several components that we want to talk about including the leg curl, pulldown bar for lats and core conditioning.  We’ll have additional information on home fitness gyms from Hoist and workout tips to lose pounds and shape your body too.
